The prices of holiday homes for Italian travelers in the HomeAway analysis
The latest survey of holiday home prices on the platform between January and November 2017 reveals how much Italians who rented accommodation through HomeAway spent on average for their domestic and international trips.
The study takes into consideration both domestic and international destinations, thus providing an overview of the average expense (average price per person per night in euros) incurred for renting accommodation on HomeAway purchased between January and November 2017.
The Italian ranking sees Veneto and Lombardy in first place among the most expensive destinations, where travelers who booked a holiday home in 2017 on HomeAway from Italy paid the highest average price per person (€41 per night). . The trend is reconfirmed if one looks at the ranking of cities, in which Milan and Venice occupy respectively first and second place, with an average price per night of €53 and €51.
Among the regions, Lazio is in second place with 37 euros per night while Sardinia and Tuscany are tied for third place with 35 euros per night. Liguria and Campania follow in fourth place (€ 34 per night), Trentino Alto Adige closes the top 5, with an average price of € 33 per night.
Furthermore, for less than 30 euros a night, travelers departing from Italy rented properties on HomeAway in 2017 in other tourist destinations such as Turin (29 €), Viareggio (27 €), Palermo (26 €), Lecce (€26) and Catania (€23) as well as by the sea, in Castellammare del Golfo (€29), Syracuse (€28) or Quartu Sant'Elena (€26).
Looking at international destinations, Mykonos, Los Angeles, Miami Beach, New York and Amsterdam are the 5 cities where HomeAway travelers departing from Italy spent the most on accommodation. The Greek island cost an average of €80 per night per person. The three beloved US destinations follow, Los Angeles (€76), Miami Beach (€68) and New York (€64). The Dutch capital, Amsterdam, closes the top 5, where HomeAway travelers spent an average of €60 per night per person. Even abroad there have been excellent opportunities to visit some cities in countries such as Spain, France, Greece and Hungary where travelers have spent even less than 30 euros per night per person.
